Christopher Bollas, nacido en 1943 en Washington D.C., es un reconocido psicoanalista y escritor británico de origen estadounidense. Se graduó en Historia por la Universidad de California, Berkeley, y obtuvo un doctorado en Literatura Inglesa en la Universidad de Buffalo. Su formación psicoanalítica la realizó en la Clínica Tavistock y en la Sociedad Psicoanalítica Británica, donde fue influenciado por figuras como Paula Heimann y Marion Milner.

Entre sus obras más destacadas se encuentran "La sombra del objeto" (1987), "Ser un personaje" (1992) y "El momento freudiano" (2007). Estos trabajos, pertenecientes al género psicoanalítico, han contribuido significativamente a la teoría y práctica contemporánea del psicoanálisis.
