Reseña del libro "Global Women in the Start-Up World: Conversations in Silicon Valley (en Inglés)"
My newest book Global Women in the Startup World: Conversations in Silicon Valley (May 2016) (Polish title Kobiety globalne w ?wiecie start-upów. Rozmowy w Dolinie Krzemowej) is a selection of interview-driven stories told by the Polish female founders who successfully made it to Silicon Valley. The introductions to the book are by Ari Horie, Founder and CEO of Womens Startup Lab, and by Professor Piotr Moncarz of Stanford University. The interviewees: Patrycja Slawuta SelfHackathon Ela Madej 50 Years Julia Krysztofiak Szopa, Amelia Krysztofiak Wellfitting Kate Scisel Contact IQ Zuzanna Sta?ska DailyArt, Moiseum Kamila Sidor Geek Girls CarrotsI decided to write a book with the focus on female founders because although women are playing an increasingly important role in the technology and business worlds, they still face unique challenges and hurdles which can be particularly acute in the fast-paced start-up environment. My interviewees came from Poland to Silicon Valley and succeeded, they never gave up. Today they became role models for many young women. They ignored the glass ceiling. They built their networks; they dealt with sexism. They followed their dreams, mastered the art of running a global company. Silicon Valley can be intimidating but with my book as a guide one can navigate the most challenging aspects of being a woman in the startup world. What many learned from these stories is that you don't have to give up your femininity to fit into a male dominated industry; you can be yourself and make a difference. The stories in the book also prove that foreign startup founders are welcome in Silicon Valley and that they can achieve truly global success. It doesn't matter what country you are from - you can build your startup in any country: some of my interviewees live and work in Poland, while others decided to move abroad. The book is a follow-up to last years publication: Talent Olympics in Silicon Valley: Conversations in Silicon Valley (September 2015). (Polish title: Igrzyska talentów w Dolinie Krzemowej. Rozmowy z mistrzami start-upów).Both books have been very well-received in the start-up, business and academic communities and within days both publications became a best-selling books. The books were published in Poland by PWN, the leading Polish provider of scientific, educational and professional literature.
