Akira Toriyama (鳥とり山やま明あきら) Nagoya 1955 - 2024 es un reconocido mangaka japonés, creador de Dragon Ball, una de las series más influyentes en la historia del manga y el anime. Nacido el 5 de abril de 1955 en Nagoya, Japón, comenzó su carrera en los años 70, logrando su primer éxito con Dr. Slump (1980). En 1984 lanzó Dragon Ball, que se convirtió en un fenómeno global con adaptaciones al anime, películas y videojuegos.

Además de su trabajo en manga, Toriyama ha diseñado personajes para videojuegos como Chrono Trigger y Dragon Quest. Su estilo dinámico y creativo dejó una huella imborrable en la cultura pop. Actualmente, vive en Japón y sigue supervisando proyectos relacionados con Dragon Ball.
