Arun Gandhi fue un activista, escritor y conferencista nacido en 1934 en Sudáfrica, nieto del líder pacifista Mahatma Gandhi. Creció en un contexto de violencia racial, lo que marcó profundamente su vida y lo llevó a reflexionar sobre la no violencia desde joven. A los 12 años, fue enviado a vivir con su abuelo en la India, experiencia que transformó su visión del mundo y le enseñó los principios fundamentales del ahimsa (no violencia).

Tras la muerte de su abuelo, Arun dedicó su vida a difundir sus enseñanzas, adaptándolas a los desafíos del mundo contemporáneo. Se mudó a Estados Unidos, donde fundó el M.K. Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence, con el objetivo de promover la paz, la tolerancia y la justicia social a través de la educación.

Escribió varios libros, entre ellos El legado de mi abuelo y El regalo de la ira, donde relata lecciones personales y filosóficas transmitidas por Mahatma Gandhi. A lo largo de su vida, trabajó en temas de derechos humanos, conflictos raciales, pobreza y resolución pacífica de disputas.

Arun Gandhi falleció en 2023, dejando un legado de activismo ético y un llamado constante a enfrentar la injusticia con compasión y firmeza.
