This volume contains letters written by Pedro Salinas during his exile in the United States plus two essays written between 1936 and 1951. Like many others, Salinas found refuge from the Franco dictatorship on the generous shores of America. In reading the texts together, one can enjoy his fascination in encountering new people, new ways of life, new cities, and even in the miracle of the journey to the new land. At the same time, one can feel his deep nostalgia for the life to which he would never be able to return.
