Edwin A. Abbot's (aka "A Square") was a prominent 19th century Christian theologian. His "Flatland" served as a biting critique of the elitist attitude embodied in England at the time and doubled as a provocative portrayal of the Christian doctrine of the incarnation. The premise of the book would prove to be an inspiration to numerous science fiction authors of the 20th century. This edition features the original illustrations created by Abbot.
