there is a large body of literature on structural optimization but its idealized conditions and formulations have not made a significant impact in practice. those books which are currently available deal primarily with weight optimization and present mostly academic examples. at present there is no book on cost optimization of structures. the proposed publication will be a ground breaking book presenting cost optimization of large realistic structures subjected to the actual constraints of commonly-used design codes.
