The desire for things which are inspired by, imitate or indeed are Greek, or Greco-Roman continues to this day. Many different media are used to diffuse Classical imagery although the focus has typically been on gems. The twenty contributions in this volume discuss a variety of approaches to Classicism and Neo-classicism from the 5th century BC to the 20th century, exploring various trends and themes in Clssical imagery and inspiration through time.
