The purpose of this book is to supply students with supplemental learning tools for working with expressions and equations. This workbook is meant to complement standard curriculum. By working with the Problem Solving Maps, students will learn an alternate approach to solving math problems that will apply to both current challenges and future learning. In Expressions and Equations, students expand their previous knowledge of arithmetic to include basic algebraic expressions. Students will learn and evaluate whole-number exponents. They will generate and identify expressions, equations, and inequalities with variables. Students will also learn to write and solve equations as well as express equivalency. Students will learn to interpret dependent and independent variables while demonstrating quantitative relationships between these variables. The Problem Solving Maps will provide a consistent framework for students to think strategically about their work and apply consistent principles to solving these problems.
